We always ask that our customers consult with their healthcare provider before using any of our products. To search for a healthcare provider who specializes in DMSO in your local area, use the keywords “Alternative Medicine, Integrated Medicine or Naturopath”. Most qualified healthcare provider can assist you with DMSO. They can help you decide which products and course of treatment is right for you, and yours.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS: DMSO is a clear colorless, oily liquid at room temperature.

DMSO is rapidly absorbed through the skin and can carry other compounds with it. DMSO is hygroscopic and has an affinity for water. When DMSO is mixed with water, the reaction is exothermic. Because of this, there is a warming sensation when DMSO is applied to damp skin.
OVERDOSE: DMSO is a non-toxic solvent with a median lethal dose higher than ethanol (DMSO: LD50, oral, rat, 14,500 mg/kg; ethanol: LD50, oral, rat, 7,060 mg/kg). The oral LD50 of dimethyl sulfoxide in the dog is greater than 10 gm/kg of body weight.. It is improbable that this dosage level could be obtained with normal use.
Penetrant carrier: Rumors of DMSO’s ability to transport other compounds through the skin have been greatly exaggerated. DMSO can carry a minimal amount of other compounds with a molar mass of less than 1000 g/mol. However it cannot carry bacteria or viruses. DMSO may potentiate other concomitantly administered medications.
METABOLISM: DMSO is metabolized in man by oxidation to dimethyl sulfone (MSM), and by reduction to dimethyl sulfide (DMS). Dimethyl sulfone is excreted in the urine and feces. Dimethyl sulfide is expelled through the lungs and skin pores and is responsible for the characteristic odor of patients on DMSO.
GENERAL WARNINGS: Not intended for drug use. Do not inject product. Avoid contact with eyes. About one in ten thousand patients have reported an allergic reaction to DMSO. This is usually presented as a skin rash. Stop using DMSO. This could be a sign of a serious allergic reaction. Seek medical attention if condition worsens.

Pregnancy and lactation: It is not known whether DMSO is excreted in human milk. Because many drugs are excreted in human milk, caution should be exercised when dimethyl sulfoxide is administered to a nursing woman. There is insufficient information regarding DMSO use during pregnancy. Pregnant and nursing mothers should avoid using DMSO.

The safety and effectiveness in children has not been established.

Contraindications: DMSO is contraindicated with the prescription drug Clinoril, or any known allergy to DMSO.

Addiction: DMSO is non narcotic and not addictive.

Tattoos: DMSO will not remove or have any effect on Tattoos.

Implants – Compatible materials include. porcelain, amalgams, PTFE (Teflon), Titanium, Platinum, Iridium, and Gold.

Other compatible materials: Include glass, polypropylene, HDPE, LDPE, natural rubber, cotton, and stainless steel.

Incompatible materials: Avoid PVC, PET, polycarbonate, acrylic, polyester, nylon, rayon, etc. Do not mix DMSO with powerful oxidizers.

STORAGE: Room temperature. Protect from strong light. Keep out of the reach of children.

DISPOSAL: Small amounts of DMSO may be discarded down a sanitary sewer system. Flush with copious amounts of water.

FIRST AID: Skin contact – Flush with copious amounts of water. Eye contact – Flush with water. Ingestion – In case of accidental oral ingestion, seek medical attention. Specific measures should be taken to induce emesis. Additional measures which may be considered are gastric lavage, activated charcoal and force diuresis. InhalationMove patient to fresh air. Seek medical attention!
