PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS: DMSO is a clear colorless, oily liquid at room temperature.
Pregnancy and lactation: It is not known whether DMSO is excreted in human milk. Because many drugs are excreted in human milk, caution should be exercised when dimethyl sulfoxide is administered to a nursing woman. There is insufficient information regarding DMSO use during pregnancy. Pregnant and nursing mothers should avoid using DMSO.
The safety and effectiveness in children has not been established.
Contraindications: DMSO is contraindicated with the prescription drug Clinoril, or any known allergy to DMSO.
Addiction: DMSO is non narcotic and not addictive.
Tattoos: DMSO will not remove or have any effect on Tattoos.
Implants – Compatible materials include. porcelain, amalgams, PTFE (Teflon), Titanium, Platinum, Iridium, and Gold.
Other compatible materials: Include glass, polypropylene, HDPE, LDPE, natural rubber, cotton, and stainless steel.
Incompatible materials: Avoid PVC, PET, polycarbonate, acrylic, polyester, nylon, rayon, etc. Do not mix DMSO with powerful oxidizers.
STORAGE: Room temperature. Protect from strong light. Keep out of the reach of children.
DISPOSAL: Small amounts of DMSO may be discarded down a sanitary sewer system. Flush with copious amounts of water.
FIRST AID: Skin contact – Flush with copious amounts of water. Eye contact – Flush with water. Ingestion – In case of accidental oral ingestion, seek medical attention. Specific measures should be taken to induce emesis. Additional measures which may be considered are gastric lavage, activated charcoal and force diuresis. Inhalation –Move patient to fresh air. Seek medical attention!
